Recap & Thanks to #EntSoc2018

Our great corner booth!

It’s hard to believe a month has passed since we attended the 2018 Joint Annual Meeting of the Entomological Societies of America, Canada and British Columbia (ESA, ESC, and ESBC), a convention that was held this year in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The Joint Annual Meeting is an opportunity where higher education students and entomology-lovers alike have the ability to interact within the entomological world at large, to discover and study, to network and find out about the many roles available in this broad career field.

Our place within the scheme of the event was to connect with current and future scientists who could benefit from our services. As an engineering and design firm, we specialize in the manufacture of laboratory equipment to save time and bring more accurate research results to hardworking scientists and entrepreneurs. We also offer a wide variety of agar diets that work well with our diet dispensing machines.

We had a fantastic time meeting hundreds of entomological enthusiasts (click here to see us on ESA’s Flickr album) and running our “Guess the Number of Bugs” game. Of the more than 300 people who played, several came close to guessing the number of bugs, but no one landed right on the dot: 481!

Next year’s Annual Meeting of ESA, ESC, & ESBC will be in St. Louis, Mo. Click here to find out more. Thank you to the organizers and participants of #EntSoc2018! When it comes to mechanical engineering, laboratory efficiency, and the expanding world of science, we hope you’ll consider Empire Technical Development to partner with you for all your specialty design and manufacture needs!

Company CEO prepares for entomology conference

August 11th, 2016

Spokane Journal of Business

Peter Bean had no idea when he co-founded Empire Technical Development LLC three years ago that he’d one day pack his bags and travel to the Entomology Society of America’s annual trade show to try to drum up new business.

“No, it certainly wasn’t what I had in mind,” says the 56-year-old Bean, a native of Great Britain who emigrated to the U.S. in 2001 and still speaks with a thick British accent. “That was not in our area of expertise, but it’s pretty cool to be going there.”

For Bean, business from entomologists, those who study insects, is slowly creeping up. Next month, he will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the entomology society’s 25th annual trade show. He’ll take with him examples of parts and products that Empire has designed and manufactured for its current customer base. Read More
